Cejal Camp Island
Day 1: Flight Bogotá - Puerto Carreño and transfer to Orinoco Lodge.
Day 2: Boat tour and ecological walk on the Tomo River
Day 3: Visit to Pedro Camejo Island and the rapids of Maipures.
Day 4: Tour of the natural savannah and Rancho Baru.
Day 5: Boat trip on the Tuparro River and visit to an indigenous community
Day 6: Flight back to Bogotá
Day 1. Flight Bogota - Puerto Carreño and transfer to Orinoco Lodge.
In the morning hours we will fly for 1:30 min, from Bogotá to Puerto Carreño (Vichada), from here we will travel in 4X4 trucks for 3 hours on an unpaved road through a natural savannah to the port of Garcitas (Orinoco River). , where we can enjoy a natural savannah landscape with birds and some mammals, then we take the flying boats over the Orinoco River that will transport us for 20 minutes to the lodge.
Day 2. Tour of the Tomo River
After having breakfast at the Camp, we navigate for 30 minutes along the Orinoco River until we find the mouth of the Tomo River, we will navigate upstream with stops at the different reddish sand beaches to register species such as: Curassows, Tapirs and Plain Caiman.
We will have lunch in the Caño de Peinillas, where we can swim to cool off from the heat and renew our energy with the Amazonian waters, then we will return to the Orinoco lodge.
Day 3. Visit to the eighth wonder of the World (Maipures rapids).
In the early hours of the day we will sail for one hour to the Raudales de Maipures, in the company of a local indigenous guide we will explore different paths of the Amazonian riverside forest where we will enjoy species of flora and fauna typical of this ecosystem (Macaws, Zainos, Pecaries, Foxes, Iguanas, birds like the oriole, the rock cocks)
We will have lunch at the Maipures stream with a spectacular view and then we will visit the Balancín stone "The Eighth Wonder of the World", then we will return to the Orinoco lodge to enjoy a spectacular sunset from El Cejal Island.
Day 4. Tour of the savannahs of the plain (Rancho Baru).
After having breakfast at the lodge, we will sail for 20 minutes along the Orinoco River to Puerto de Garcitas, then in 4x4 trucks we will travel through the natural savannah for 3 hours with stops to observe fauna and flora up to Rancho Baru on the banks of the plateaus river, On the way we can observe species such as: Deer, Capybaras, Alcaraban, Anteaters and Foxes.
It is possible to take a delicious refreshing bath in the rapids of the Mesetas River.
Then we will have lunch at Rancho Baru, rest in a hammock and then return to El Cejal Island.
Day 5 (6 May). Bird Watching Tuparro River
In the early hours of the morning we will navigate the Orinoco River for 40 minutes and then enter the mouth of the Tuparro River, where we will make several stops on the reddish sand beaches and in the riverside forests, where we can record species of animals like:
We will have lunch in the surroundings of the Tuparrito stream, then we will visit an indigenous community with which we can share and learn about their ways of life and learn about their crafts, a little later we will return to the Orinoco lodge.
Depending on the time of the flight the next day from Puerto Carreño to Bogotá, we will move in the afternoon to Puerto Carreño where we will sleep that night.
Day 6 (May 7). Flight to Bogotá and return home.

Commercial establishments in Colombia cannot receive USD/EUR due to exchange restrictions for locals, please make sure to have Colombian pesos when buying locally. Covid tests are not included, however, Fish Colombia's team, can help you to set appointments if needed. Have in mind the laboratories shall take 4 hours for antigens test, or 24 hours for PCR test No cell connection on the river but sometimes guests will have access to a satellite phone if an emergency arises.
Currency: Colombian Peso. Please make sure you bring enough to settle extra expenses in town and tips. Tips can be done in Dollars, but pesos are more convenient for the staff.
All guests will be sent through tackle requirements in their pre-trip information. Wilderness camping: While we try to make the camp as comfortable as possible, guests are advised that this trip is aimed at the adventurous with a bare minimum level of fitness required. A 50% deposit is required to secure your rod with the balance to be paid 45 days before the trip. While basic travel insurance is included, it is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that clients purchase Global Rescue insurance.
MEDICAL EVACUATIONS: It is important that clients have adequate travel and medical insurance that includes Medical Evacuation from point of Injury. Global Rescue offers the most comprehensive and inclusive insurance.
